This Weeks "Producer DON'T" Of The Week

This week I'd say this kid from the Lower East Side, NY actually has a decent track. (Shout out to my New Yorkers)  However, he destroys the video with too much damn talking!  So my tip this week is something light...  If you're going to make a beat making video, SHUT THE HELL UP AND MAKE THE BEAT!  Let the beat speak for itself.  If it's hot you won't need to tell the world: "This is the hook" "This is the verse about to switch up" "This is the.... SHUT THE HECK UP!!  Check out the video here...

Hello World!!

Hello World!! Welcome to my blog. I've come to the conclusion that a lot of people don't understand how much work goes into the music that they love so much. I mean, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe many music listeners believe it's the artist that makes this music sound so good. (or bad in some cases...)  Don't get me wrong.  We do have some naturals that can just pick up a microphone and blow the crowd away. However, we have way more artists that are...  lets say a bit inadequate for lack of a better word.  That's when the REAL artists in my opinion get to shine.  These men and women that I'm referring to are the ones that truly bring a track to life.  The producers that "beef up" these kicks to the point where you have no choice but to dance. Or the mix engineers that blend and tweak everything together so perfectly.  Even the directors and post production crews of the music videos that give the song a visual. It's almost like poetry.  In fact, it is poetry to some of us.  The "Shakespeare's" behind the lyrics.

I've decided to travel far and wide to studios and video sets and where ever else I can find the people behind the lyrics. I've decided to give them a voice.  I think the world needs to know all of the players involved in this game we've all come to love.  People forget that most of the time the rapper or singer only writes the lyrics. Sometimes they don't even do that!!  Listeners don't realize that a lot of the time the first thing that grabs you about a song is the instrumental itself. If the music doesn't catch your attention chances are you won't bother making it to the lyrics. That's all the producers work.  Now if you do make it to the lyrics and the mix sounds like crap you'll immediately get a headache or won't understand a thing that's being said. Or... you can run into a phenomenal mix that pieced everything together perfectly.  That's the work of a well trained audio engineer.

Now I'm not taking anything away from any artists. We have some frighteningly talented artists today. I'm just saying that there are voices that need to be heard. Names that need to be learned. Faces that need to be seen. I plan to take the journey to help you get to know some of those names, see some of those faces, and hear some of their stories as well.  Please stay tuned for BEHIND THE LYRICS...
